The Football Fan

My first nut-post. Its about being football fan. Its a crime to switch your alliances with one club and support a different club in football. BUT WHY? No one says a thing when a players are transferred, No one says any thing when coaches are changed, No one minds a change in ownership as long as the owner has lots of cash to spend. Why then is a 'fan' the only one not allowed to change sides and has to be called a traitor if he does that? Even the flags, anthems, stadiums and primary sponsors change!!!

Rather than answering I'll put a counter-question. Why do you love your school, college or home-town years after you left them? Players, managers, owners will change, What remains is the spirit/ the soul. Every institute has certain characteristics which are unique to it and which rarely change. They may be intangible, incomprehensible yet unavoidable (This explanation is for the genuine fans and not the United-won-hence-I-support-them fans)

exactly wat i missed out,
I am asking it to the 'outstation' supportors(who are native to the place the club represents), who have no emotional attachment to the club. Like I will never stop supporting India even if it looses the next 100 cricket matches but what emotions do you attached to a team based in Italy, a place you have never been to?

1. Because of the media coverage, geographical location hardly matters and you often feel like in the proximity. Also, Live telecast of matches bridges the gap.
2. Emotions - It is personal. Varies from person to person. Again, it's something that's beyond explanation.
3. You look cool when you support a European team, follow European football :P

but, we strayed away..... I am asking, why is the person who changes sides called a traitor???
Whats wrong in that? and if something is, why isn't that same rule applicable to players?

@outstation : You are tr8ed as alien if u dont know a word about football..especially in common room.+It's kind of honour if u like football over cricket!

@traitor :when u bame someone like that,u only satisfy urself because it helps to forget the defeat..or simply it helps u to get over the fact that some other club is better than the club u support...
